Thanks to all who visited our stand at the Corrandulla Show on Sunday 23 June, and contributed field names and information on other local features. We look forward to continuing with this project in the coming months. Please get in touch if you have any field names to contribute!

Annaghdown Heritage Society will have a stand in the new hall for Corrandulla Show on Sunday 23rd of June next. This year we are hoping to record field names, boreen names, visiting houses and any other areas of interest in our parish. We have a lovely set of big maps to write the information on, one of them features in the picture here. Don’t worry if you have only ever heard the name of the field and don’t know how to spell it, it’s more important to get the information than the spelling.

We hope that in the coming days you might chat about these places and remember these places. This will be an ongoing project but we hope to preserve this information digitally so that future generations will have access to it. Much of this information will be lost in the coming years, now it the time to record them.
