From Tiny Pieces of Paper do Large Family Trees Grow

March 20 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Annaghdown Heritage Society is delighted to welcome Midie Corcoran who will present a talk entitled “From Tiny Pieces of Paper Do Large Family Trees Grow” on Wednesday March 20th, 2024 at 8 p.m in the Heritage Room, Old Girls’ School, Corrandulla. The talk is open to the public and can also be viewed on Zoom – please see link circulated to our mailing list, or contact us for the link.

Midie will present a light hearted look at his journey through genealogy from capturing snippets of information on scraps paper to writing articles about family members for newspapers and journals. He will share a list of resources he has used to factually add to stories that he has heard as a child, in order to preserve family history for future generations.

Midie is a long time genealogy enthusiast. He is co-administrator of “East Galway Genealogy & DNA” Facebook page together with Martin Curley. He has published articles relating to genealogy and local history in the Journal of the Old Tuam Society (JOTS) and the Tuam Herald. He has served as PRO for the Western Family History Association. Outside of genealogy, Midie is a performer, director, writer, storyteller and collaborative artist. His current project, in collaboration with Jojo Hynes, is Sparkcatchers!, a youth led multidisciplinary Arts group based in Tuam.
